The fall of The House of Usher

L'abitazione Usher ,edificio in stile Neogotico, è stato creato sulla base delle conoscenze acquisite dalle ricerche storiche sul periodo. Dal testo si evince un legame tra edificio e proprietario che viene espresso attraverso un'asimmetria strutturale. La discordanza della dimora rappresenta la follia del protagonista Roderick,l'irrazionalità dei suoi comportamenti a volte troppo eccitati, a volte troppo catalettici.

La struttura della casa è stata ideata sulla base di diverse influenze.

A guidare l’elaborazione scenografica del racconto è stata una forte suggestione pittorica, in particolare dell’Arte Romantica. Esternamente si è voluto conferire l’aspetto di una chiesa gotica dimenticata e abbandonata.  È la facciata centrale a suggerire questa immagine grazie alla struttura sporgente in alto (erker) sopra il portale, poiché tale elemento è associato inconsciamente alla forma di un trittico gotico. 

Dell'abitazione sono stati progettati anche alcuni interni come: l'ingresso, un corridoio che conduce allo studio di Roderick e ai sotterranei della casa.

 

 

 

The Usher house, the neo-Gothic building, was created on the basis of the knowledge acquired from the historical researches of the period. The text indicates a link between the building and the owner who is expressed through a structural asymmetry. The discordance of the dwelling represents the folly of the protagonist Roderick, the irrationality of his behaviors: sometimes too excited, other too cataleptic. 

The structure of the house was designed with different influences.
The direction of the scenographic elaboration of the story was a strong pictorial suggestion, in particular of the Romantic Art. Externally we wanted to give the appearance of a forgotten and abandoned Gothic church.   The central façade suggests this image thanks to the protruding structure at the top (erker) above the portal, since this element is unconsciously associated with the shape of a Gothic triptych.  spaces, that have the same structural shape. of the crypt described in the novel.

The interior has also been designed, such as: the entrance hall, a corridor leading to the studio of Roderick and the basement of the house.
